NABERS appoints new stakeholder members to National Steering Committee

News | 06 Nov 2026

18 industry organisations have been appointed to the NABERS National Steering Committee (NSC), following expressions of interest in August 2026. The members will commence their three-year term from January 2027.

Together, these organisations represent a wide range of NABERS stakeholders across building sectors and the wider Australian economy.

"We're excited to welcome our new National Steering Committee members, including four new organisations to represent the embodied carbon, waste and indoor environment sectors. We're fortunate for the opportunity to tap into the expertise of these industry organisations through these important years ahead," says Carlos Flores, Director, NABERS.

Stakeholder members are a vital part of NABERS’ governance framework, bringing industry perspectives that inform strategic priorities and business planning. While they are non-voting members, they participate in committee discussions and contribute to decision-making processes alongside government members of the National Steering Committee. Stakeholder members generally represent peak industry bodies and other representative organisations, rather than individual businesses or practitioners.

Joining the NABERS National Steering Committee is an incredible opportunity to help shape the next horizon of sustainability across Australia's built environment. With over two decades in environmental engineering and sustainable construction, my motivation has always been driving pragmatic, scalable, and practical pathways to decarbonise. As NABERS expands its focus into embodied carbon and emerging asset classes, I look forward to bringing practical insights from the supply chain and materials sector to ensure our national benchmarks remain ambitious, robust, and achievable for the industry.
