NABERS Energy Updates for 2030

NABERS is seeking your feedback on the proposed NABERS Energy update for 2030.  

Your feedback will ensure the next NABERS Energy update reflects the needs and goals of building owners, managers, and policy makers across the country.

This consultation focuses on NABERS Energy rating calculation. Specifically, it proposes updates to how different energy sources are compared in 2030, ensuring that NABERS Energy ratings continue to drive meaningful improvements in energy efficiency.  

This proposal has been developed by the NABERS team in consultation with a wide group of industry stakeholder and the NABERS National Steering Committee.

Feedback can be provided to NABERS by using the survey form. 

Please submit feedback by 5pm, Friday the 12 December 2025 

NABERS is asking you to consider the following:

 

1. How likely will this item support your organisation's policies or goals for energy efficiency? 

NABERS is seeking to understand how this item supports your organisation's goals, so we can retain the elements that are working well. 

2. Are there any risks or unintended consequences to the proposed approach, and what would help overcome them? 

NABERS wants to understand any potential risks to the approach in ensuring NABERS Energy Star ratings continue to meaningfully compare energy efficiency of buildings into the future. 
 

3. What should we consider in finalising this approach?
