NABERS Energy for Warehouses and Cold Stores Rules

The NABERS Energy for Warehouses and Cold Stores Rules are used by Assessors to rate the energy performance of warehouse and cold store facilities.

NABERS ratings must be performed by a NABERS Accredited Assessor and comply with the quality standard set in the principles and rules for gathering, interpreting and using data. 

The latest version of the Energy for Warehouses and Cold Stores Rules is Version 1.1.

What's new in this version?

Version 1.1 includes minor updates for improved readability and clarity. The main updates are:

  • Section 3.2: Clarified that the rating period for new buildings and major refurbishments can start 12 months after the certificate of occupancy is issued.
  • Chapter 4: Restructured to better explain the relationships between different areas.
  • Chapter 5: Standardised wording for ‘total site GLA’ and ‘rated site area’ throughout.
  • Section 7.3.3.1: Clarified how to calculate rated hours where there are overlapping shifts.
  • Section 9.3.2: Clarified how to count full-time workers where the number of workers varies over the rating period.
  • Appendix B: Clarified which building configurations are eligible.
