The NABERS Indoor Environment for Offices Rules are used by Assessors to rate the indoor environment quality of office buildings.
A NABERS Indoor Environment rating assesses a building or tenancy’s indoor environment against a set of benchmarks which reflect current industry standards and scientific research.
The assessment must be performed by a NABERS Accredited Assessor and comply with the quality standard set in the principles and rules for gathering, interpreting and using data for a rating to be accredited by NABERS.
The latest version of the Rules is version 3.1.
What's new in this version
The main changes for version 3.1 are:
- Minor wording updates have been made throughout, to standardise terminology and accommodate the change of the NABERS rating input form for Indoor Environment from NABERS Rate to NABERS Perform.
- Some sections have been rearranged or moved for better document flow.
- Assessors undergoing supervised ratings must personally complete the site visit and collect spot measurements, and are not permitted to delegate these functions.
- The submission method for annual temperature data for mechanically ventilated and mixed-mode buildings has been standardised. The National Administrator should be contacted for further guidance on naturally ventilated buildings.
- Carbon monoxide measurements may be collected as late as 6:00 pm, extended from 5:30 pm in the previous version.
- New appendices have been added, illustrating the overall structure of an Indoor Environment rating result and providing an example of a BMS sensor validation template.
